An update from our CEO: Keeping you informed

Dear friends,

In light of recent developments regarding COVID-19, Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph has decided to temporarily close our three ReStore locations. We have also halted all planned Build Day activity on our Cityview Village build site.

As a charitable organization, we depend our ReStore shoppers and donors to support local families in need of affordable housing, and our build site is so close to finishing the final block of 8 units for families in our community, so this was a very difficult decision. However, it was made with the safety of our staff, volunteers, shoppers, donors and families as our first priority, and in accordance with recommendations from Health Canada and Public Health Ontario. We will revisit the need for these closures on April 1st and will provide further updates at that time.

There are further implications of these closures, including the postponement of our scheduled donation pick-up services and kitchen salvage services. Our team is reaching out to those donors that have appointments scheduled between now and April 1 to reschedule.

This also means ReStores will be unable to receive donations of items at our warehouses, as there will be no staff onsite to process these items. If possible, we ask that you please hold onto your items until the stores are again open for business.

We greatly appreciate your support of Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph. These are extraordinary circumstances and we thank you for your patience and understanding. Community has always been at the core of Habitat for Humanity’s mission, and we’re grateful to be a part of yours.

Keep well,

Steve Howard
