Since the establishment of our affiliate in 2000, Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph has built 25 affordable single and semi-detached homes for local families. With our record of building well-established, we knew it was time to scale up construction to meet the demand for safe, decent, and affordable housing in the Counties of Wellington and Dufferin.
You can help us build community.
Habitat for Humanity WDG tenders various aspects of its builds to trade contractors and building suppliers. By working with Habitat for Humanity, you can help us transform affordable housing into homes that provide the foundation for the future of our community.
Habitat WDG offers a zero down payment, interest-free mortgage. We require all partner families to contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” by volunteering in construction, office work and fundraising. When volunteers are on-site, they work under the direction of experienced and dedicated crew leads to ensure a fun and safe building experience, using Habitat WDG tools and materials only.
Environmental sustainability is important to us.
Since the 2007 building season, we have committed to building all homes to the Energy Star standard for energy efficiency and will continue to meet or exceed these standards as our building practices develop. We have also committed to the City of Guelph’s Blue Built Home Program. These programs save water, energy, and reduce utility bills thereby making our Habitat homes more affordable, sustainable, and livable for our partner families while helping the environment.
