In 2017, we commenced our most ambitious build yet. Cityview Village is a 28-unit multi-residential affordable housing development. But it is more than this. It is also a community for change. No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to feel the strength, stability and self-reliance that owning a home provides. And now, in 2020, this project is nearing completion. Twenty eight new homes, immeasurable volunteer and community support, $7,800,000 in costs, and three years later, we are coming to the end of our Cityview Village build. Before the end of this year, we will be welcoming the final eight families into affordable homeownership. We have just a little bit more to go.
Our community has done so much for this build. You volunteered. You attended our events. You donated to our ReStores. You shopped at our ReStores. You donated dollars. We are almost there. However, having had to close our ReStores for several months, 2020 hasn’t gone the way we hoped. We have come up $350,000 short. So, we are asking for just a bit more.
Since we can’t have our usual fundraising event this year, we are launching our Hearts for Homes monthly giving campaign and we ask you to consider participating. Please consider becoming a Hearts for Homes donor. Just $10 or $25 dollars a month for 12 months or more will make a difference. Give as a family. Give as an employee group. Give as a club. Give as a business owner. Give as a professional.
“I remember walking in to our new home and just crying, looking down to my daughter and saying, “we are HOME!” Cityview Village has allowed me to create a happy home for my daughter, a place to make first-time memories. Thank you a million times over. You gave me the gift of a fresh start…..my do-over at just being the best mom I can be.”
Wherever you are and whatever you do, a small recurring donation will help us turn this crazy ear into one where we can finish Cityview Village. We are already looking at our next build opportunities in Guelph and in Fergus. The faster we close this gap – just a little bit more – the sooner we can start to support more families together.
Thank you for your on-going support. We know that times are tough for many of you. If the timing isn’t right, we, more than anyone, understand. If you are able, you can sign up below. Even a simple one-time gift is appreciated.

Research has shown that Habitat homeowners are happier, healthier and more financially secure. As a Habitat family’s financial stability improves, their dependence on social services decreases, providing them with more opportunities to contribute to their local economy and community. Safe, decent housing can also provide families with better education and employment opportunities.
When you partner with Habitat for Humanity, you are partnering with an organization dedicated to empowering families in building stability, strength and self-reliance by providing a hand-up through affordable homeownership. With your support, we can build a solid foundation and bright future for individuals and families in our community. We can build more homes and stronger and more vibrant communities. Together we can make a difference that lasts a lifetime – because everyone deserves a safe, decent, affordable place to call home.
Thank you on behalf of the Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph Board of Directors and our entire staff and volunteer team. We all feel privileged to be able to give others a hand up.
