According to Sue Keuhl, Community Relations at Sleeman, “attending the Ultimate Habitat House Parties led to making connections with Habitat staff and volunteers to learn more about the amazing accomplishments of Habitat for Humanity in the Guelph and surrounding area. Doing more research and asking probing questions led us to gain deeper knowledge of how Habitat makes efficient use of dollars raised and impacts lives. We were also impressed with how future homeowners and volunteers are engaged in the process.”

The Habitat build project on York road is a perfect fit to encourage Sleeman employees to volunteer in the community. “Based on the excellent reputation of Habitat for Humanity,” remarks Sue, “we had an overwhelming response of volunteers who wanted to participate”.

Sleeman’s three work days included the tear down of walls and fixtures. The group was

participate with people in the company from different departments and shifts. “The experience has led to long lasting memories and a wonderful sense of pride in working together for a great cause” says Keuhl.

“Sleeman Breweries cares about the communities in which we live and work,” adds Keuhl, “we are proud of our long-standing history of charitable giving”. Sleeman does their best to contribute to registered non-profits surrounding the Brewery by charitable donations, gifts-in-kind and assisting employees in their charitable efforts and volunteerism. The Sleeman family has a long standing reputation for promoting Guelph and contributing to the community. “Whenever we can, we feel it is important to give back to the local area that has been so supportive of our brands”. It makes great sense to help build up strong communities. “Sleeman has been a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity for several years and we are excited about our growing, future relationship”, says Sharron Riley-Persson, Habitat for Humanity WDG.
