We are committed to giving a hand up- not a hand out.

Habitat for Humanity offers a zero down payment, interest-free mortgage. Mortgage payments are established annually at 25% of the homeowner’s yearly income and are held by the local Affiliate. We require all partner families to contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” by volunteering in construction, office work and fundraising. Working together with staff and volunteers, we encourage the development of life and employment skills.

Environmental sustainability is important to us.

Since the 2007 building season, we have committed to building all homes to the EnergyStar standard for energy efficiency and will continue to meet or exceed these standards as our building practices develop. We have also committed to the City of Guelph’s Blue Built Home Program. These programs save water, energy, and reduce utility bills making our Habitat homes more affordable, sustainable, and livable for our partner families while helping the environment.

We support global partnership.

For every house we build in our communities Habitat WDG supports our international build efforts through tithing.

We are guided by ethical fundraising and financial accountability standards.

Habitat for Humanity WDG is a member of Imagine Canada and as such we comply with their Code of Ethics.
